Old school trainers

On my recent trip to San Francisco I mistakenly opted to pack leather brogues and I soon realised the full extent of this stupidity. When trekking up and down the hills of the city it is difficult to miss the footwear choice of trainers made by the residents. I was particularly attracted by the fluorescent dashes of colour on these trainers. With old school trainers making their way back onto the scene I am ultimately reminded of my hopes of owning some Nike Air Max's.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2013/14

Marc Jacobs has brought the seventies back to the catwalk but reinvented it with a touch of masculine tailoring. With oversize jackets and loose cropped trousers the looks have an almost eastern feel to them. The check and leaf patterns mixed with the palette of dark blues and maroons add an autumnal tone to the collection.

Thakoon A/W 13/14

With a mix of oversized and undersized, slouchy trousers, checkered patterns and a knitted roll neck what more could you ask for in a collection? I love these super cool looks and am particularly fond of the bright coral tux.

New York Fashion Week Day 4 - Lyn Devon A/W 2013/14 Collection

Lyn Devon

This collection has a ladylike tone with loose, feminine cuts and cinched in waist lines creating a 40's style silhouette. What intrigues me about the collection however are the masculine interruptions brought in with the tailored trousers, hats and loafers. I love this contrast of the two genders. The eye catching mix of fabrics and patterns from velvet, sheepskin, knitwear and florals help to add great textures to the looks.

My favourite pieces have to be all of the carrot top trousers which are gathered at the waist to create a flattering shape which hangs off the body delicately.

Paul Smith Spring Summer 2013 Collection

Paul Smith very rarely fails to capture my attention and his spring/summer 2013 collection is no exception to this. As per usual the tailoring is the focus, with clean cuts and a bold use of colours to create a youthful and exciting collection.

The palette of colours used in this collection of greens, mustards and reds help to top off the understated cool of these looks. I really adore the multi tonal shirts which cut the look up bravely and the white brogues really finish off the looks.

I will always love it when clothing merges the boundaries of what is considered masculine and feminine and Paul Smith is always on top of my list for achieving this. These 'androgynous' looks appear both wearable and stunning.

Louise Amstrup

Having worked with Alexander McQueen and Jonathan Saunders, Danish born designer Louise Amstrup has had enough experience for us all to have total faith in her talent. After discovering some of her clothing online I have fallen head over heels for the graphic patterns, oversized shapes, delicate fabrics and muted palettes used in her designs.

Here is a selection from the Louise Amstrup Autumn/Winter 2012/13 collection.

I just want them all!
